Germans have five meals a day on average. First they eat breakfast, usually it consists of bread and rolls with jam. They generally drink coffee or milk with breakfast. A couple of hours after breakfast they have Brotzeit or bread time. Brotzeit has bread with it. Thereafter, the Germans eat lunch at noon. It is the German's largest meal of the day. The meal is kind of like a dinner. It usually contains veal, pork, beef or chicken. It also includes vegetables such as carrots, beets, onions, potatoes, or turnips. In the afternoon, Germans eat an afternoon meal, like a snack similar to Brotzeit. It features bread like Brotzeit. However it also includes fancy pastries. Dinner is a light meal that features bread, cheese, and sausage.
Germans enjoy wine and beer to drink. The wines and beers are internationally famous. Some beer under 1% alcohol level is served to children. They also drink milk. Milk is more common then wine. However coffee is more common then milk.

The afternoon meal is eaten in a restaurant located in the basement of a historic town hall. It can also be grabbed at a fast food restaurant. In places like pubs, patrons sit them selves near other people which is acceptable and expected. This often surprises tourists. As does this, when Germans bring dogs to the restaurants. Often the wait staff will set down water for the diner's dogs. Each section of Germany is known for its food and brewed beverages.
